14k-solid-gold-miraculous-medal-baby-pin
14K Solid Gold Miraculous Medal Baby Pin 1.1"

For generations, Latin families have pinned a small gold medal to a newborn's clothing as a quiet prayer for protection. This 14K solid gold baby pin carries the Miraculous Medal, with Our Lady standing with open hands and the prayer "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee" around its edge. It is a baptism gift that godparents and grandparents give once, and that a child keeps for a lifetime.

About the Design

The pin measures 1.1 inches and is stamped 14K on the clasp head. An oval Miraculous Medal, 8 mm by 12 mm, hangs from a small bail on the lower bar, allowing it to move freely. The front shows Our Lady standing on the globe, her arms lowered and her hands open, with rays of grace streaming from them. The traditional prayer is inscribed in English around the raised border. A softly textured background lets the figure stand out, even at this small scale.

The reverse carries the traditional design given to Saint Catherine Labouré: the letter M for Mary, joined to a cross and a bar, surrounded by twelve stars. Beneath it are two hearts: the Sacred Heart of Jesus, crowned with thorns, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, pierced by a sword. Together they speak of Mary standing at the foot of the Cross, united with her Son in His suffering and in His love for us.

About the Devotion

In 1830, Our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré, a young Daughter of Charity in Paris, and asked her to have a medal struck according to the vision she was shown. The rays from Mary's hands, she explained, are the graces she gives to those who ask for them. The medal spread so quickly, and so many graces were attributed to it, that the faithful soon called it the Miraculous Medal. It remains one of the most beloved Marian sacramentals in the Church.

In Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Mexican homes, the baby pin is a familiar sight: a small gold pin fastened to the newborn's clothing, often carrying a medal of the Virgin. This piece places that custom under the care of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Like every sacramental, the medal is not a charm or a guarantee. Its meaning lives in the prayer and trust in Mary that it accompanies.

Specifications

Pin Material

14K solid yellow gold (stamped 14K)

Medal Material

14K solid yellow gold

Pin Length

1.1 in (28 mm)

Medal Size

8 mm x 12 mm (0.31 in x 0.47 in)

Front

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal with English inscription

Reverse

Traditional Miraculous Medal reverse: the letter M with the Cross and bar, twelve stars, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary

Closure

Safety clasp with covered point

Origin

Imported

Packaging

White jewelry gift box

Who This Is For

Godparents (padrinos) looking for a solid gold baptism gift that will last well beyond the day itself.

Grandmothers and great-grandmothers continuing the family tradition of pinning a gold medal on the newest baby.

New parents who want their child's first piece of jewelry to be a sign of faith.

Families devoted to the Miraculous Medal, especially as a gift for its feast on November 27.

Safe use for babies: pin only to outer clothing, a blanket, or a stroller canopy while an adult is present.
