A small medal with a soft, luminous frame. This Miraculous Medal pendant is made of solid 14K gold and surrounded by a halo of freshwater cultured pearls, as if Our Lady rests within a circle of light. It is a gentle, feminine piece of devotion, and a gift that feels as special on the day it is given as it will years from now.
About the Design
The pendant measures 11 mm by 13 mm, not including the bail. At its center is an oval Miraculous Medal in solid 14K gold, set against a soft satin background. The front shows Our Lady standing on the globe, arms lowered and hands open, with rays of grace streaming from them and a halo of small stars above her head. Polished bright-cut accents on her mantle catch the light against the satin finish.
Around the medal, small freshwater cultured pearls sit in a fine gold frame, framed by three polished gold bars at the sides and base. The pearls show a soft luster with gentle pink and blue overtones, and because pearls are made by nature, each one varies slightly in shape, which gives every pendant its own character.
The reverse carries the traditional design of the Miraculous Medal: the letter M joined to a cross and a bar, surrounded by stars, with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary beneath it. The back of the bail is stamped 14K and the maker's mark.
About the Devotion
In 1830, Our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré, a young Daughter of Charity in Paris, and asked her to have a medal struck according to the vision she was shown. The rays from Mary's hands, she explained, are the graces she gives to those who ask for them. The medal spread so quickly, and so many graces were attributed to it, that the faithful soon called it the Miraculous Medal.
The M and the Cross on the Crosses recall Mary standing at the foot of the Cross, and the two hearts unite the love of the Son and the Mother. Like every sacramental, the medal is not a charm or a guarantee. Its meaning lives in the prayer and trust in Mary that it accompanies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Miraculous Medal pendant solid gold?
Yes. The medal, the frame, and the bail are 14K solid yellow gold, and the back of the bail is stamped 14K. It is not gold-filled, gold-plated, or gold vermeil.
Are the pearls real?
Yes. They are freshwater cultured pearls, grown inside freshwater mollusks. Cultured pearls are genuine pearls formed with human help, and each one varies slightly in shape, luster, and overtone.
Does it come with a chain?
No. The pendant is sold separately, so you can wear it on a chain you already love or choose a new one. The bail fits most fine gold chains.
How big is the pendant?
The pendant measures 11 mm by 13 mm without the bail, about half an inch wide and half an inch tall. It is a dainty piece designed for everyday wear.
What do the symbols on the back of the Miraculous Medal mean?
The M stands for Mary, and the Cross above, crossed by a bar, recalls her place at the foot of the Cross. The Cross recalls the woman crowned with twelve stars in the Book of Revelation. The two hearts are the Sacred Heart of Jesus, crowned with thorns, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, pierced by a sword.
Is this medal from the Chapel of Rue du Bac in Paris?
No. This is an imported 14K gold medal that reproduces the traditional design of the Miraculous Medal. If you are looking for medals from the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Paris, see our Rue du Bac collection.
