Sometimes the smallest sign carries the deepest devotion. This tiny Miraculous Medal charm is made of solid 14K gold and measures less than half an inch tall, small enough to wear every day, alone on a fine chain, beside other charms, or on a bracelet. A delicate beaded border frames Our Lady, giving this small medal a classic, heirloom look.
About the Design
The charm is a small oval measuring 7.8 mm by 9.5 mm, not including the bail. The front shows Our Lady standing on the globe with her arms lowered and her hands open, rays of grace streaming from them, inside a raised oval frame finished with a fine beaded border. A small fixed loop at the top lets the charm slide onto a fine chain or attach to a bracelet or charm necklace.
The reverse carries the traditional design of the Miraculous Medal: the letter M joined to a cross and a bar, surrounded by stars, with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary beneath it. Even at this tiny size, the relief is clear and carefully detailed.
About the Devotion
In 1830, Our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine Labouré, a young Daughter of Charity in Paris, and asked her to have a medal struck according to the vision she was shown. The rays from Mary's hands, she explained, are the graces she gives to those who ask for them. The medal spread so quickly, and so many graces were attributed to it, that the faithful soon called it the Miraculous Medal.
The M and the cross on the reverse recall Mary standing at the foot of the Cross, and the two hearts unite the love of the Son and the Mother. Like every sacramental, the medal is not a charm in the sense of a good luck piece. Its meaning lives in the prayer and trust in Mary that it accompanies.

Is this charm solid gold?

No. The charm is sold separately. Its small loop fits fine chains, and it can also be added to a charm bracelet or charm necklace.

What do the symbols on the back of the Miraculous Medal mean?
The M stands for Mary, and the cross above it, joined by a bar, recalls her place at the foot of the Cross. The stars recall the woman crowned with twelve stars in the Book of Revelation. The two hearts are the Sacred Heart of Jesus, crowned with thorns, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, pierced by a sword.
