What Comes in This Set
1. The cross chain necklace
A chain made entirely of small Latin crosses with polished, rounded arms, each joined to the next by a small round ring. The crosses lie sideways along the chain, so from the front you see a continuous line of crosses instead of a single pendant. Each cross measures about 13 by 5 mm. The chain is 316L stainless steel with a gold-tone finish, 15 inches with a 2-inch extension.
2. The mother-of-pearl scapular necklace
Two small rectangular medals carved from genuine mother-of-pearl, the natural iridescent lining of a shell. One shows Our Lady of Mount Carmel holding the Christ Child, the other the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Each medal measures about 7 by 12 mm. Because mother of pearl is natural, the sheen and markings vary slightly from piece to piece. The medals hang side by side from a fine 18K gold-plated copper alloy box chain, 16 inches with a 2-inch extension.
How to Wear Them Layered
Fasten the cross chain at 15 inches so it sits high on the neck like a choker, then let the Scapular out to 18 inches. That leaves about 3 inches between the two, enough space for the medals to hang clear of the crosses and for each chain to keep its own line.
The two chains have different textures, which helps. The cross chain has presence, and the fine box chain nearly disappears, so the eye goes first to the crosses and then down to the Scapular.
You can also wear each necklace on its own. The cross chain works as an everyday choker, and the Scapular sits well alone at 16 or 18 inches.

What a Scapular Is
The Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is one of the oldest sacramentals in the Church: two small panels of brown wool joined by cords and worn over the shoulders. It signifies a commitment to live the Christian life, to pray, and to entrust yourself to Our Lady. In 1910, Pope St. Pius X permitted those already enrolled in the devotion to wear a blessed scapular medal in its place.
This necklace is devotional jewelry inspired by that tradition. It follows the Scapular's two-panel form and carries the same two images, but it is not a substitute for the cloth scapular or for enrollment. Enrollment by a priest comes first. If you have not been enrolled, ask your parish priest. It takes a few minutes after Mass.
The cross chain completes the set. Our Lady's intercession on one chain and the cross of Christ on the other, worn close so you remember both in the middle of an ordinary day.

Care
Mother of pearl and gold plating are the more delicate parts of this set, so care for both necklaces with them in mind. Keep perfume, hairspray, and lotion away from the chains and medals, and put your jewelry on last. Remove both necklaces before showering, swimming, exercising, and sleeping. Wipe the medals gently with a soft, dry cloth and never soak them, since water and chemicals dull the natural shine of mother of pearl. Store the necklaces separately so the chains don't tangle and the crosses don't scratch the medals.

Is this real gold?

Is this set waterproof?
No. The cross chain is stainless steel and handles water well, but the Scapular's gold plating and mother of pearl do not. Take both off before showering or swimming.
Are these blessed?
