A small scapular medal with a light frame around Our Lady. This 14K solid gold pendant features Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the front, surrounded by a diamond border, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the back, framed in plain, polished gold. It is the whole scapular devotion in one small piece, made to be worn close to the heart every day.
About the Design
The medal is solid 14K yellow gold with a matte finish on both faces, so the relief of each image reads clearly. On the front, Our Lady of Mount Carmel holds the Child Jesus, crowned with rays of light, inside a border of small diamonds totaling 0.10 carats. On the back, the Sacred Heart of Jesus sits inside a smooth, polished frame stamped 14KT with the maker's mark. The pendant hangs from a gold jump ring that fits most fine and medium chains.
The pendant is sold separately, without a chain, so you can pair it with a chain you already love or choose a new one.
About the Devotion
The Brown Scapular is one of the oldest Marian devotions in the Church. Carmelite tradition holds that in 1251 Our Lady appeared to Saint Simon Stock, prior general of the Carmelite Order, and gave him the scapular as a sign of her protection. Wearing it expresses consecration to Mary and a commitment to imitate her virtues. The Church cautions that it is a sign of faith, never a lucky charm, and that it points to a life of prayer, the sacraments, and fidelity to the Gospel.
In 1910, Pope Saint Pius X permitted the faithful enrolled in the cloth scapular to wear a single medal in its place. The medal must show the Sacred Heart of Jesus on one side and an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the other, in the exact form of this pendant. The devotion to the Sacred Heart itself was made known through the revelations to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial in the 1670s.

Care Instructions
Solid 14K gold does not tarnish and can be worn every day. Clean the pendant with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush to keep the diamonds bright, then dry with a soft cloth. Avoid polishing cloths on the matte faces, since they can burnish the surface to a shine. Remove the pendant before swimming in chlorinated water or using household chemicals, and store it in its box to keep the stones from getting scratched.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this pendant be worn in place of the cloth Brown Scapular?
Yes, for those already enrolled in the Brown Scapular. Since 1910, the Church has permitted a single medal with the Sacred Heart of Jesus on one side and the Blessed Virgin Mary on the other to replace the cloth scapular, which is exactly the form of this pendant. We always enroll with the cloth scapular, and a priest or deacon must then bless the medal. The cloth scapular remains the preferred form.
Is this pendant blessed?
No. Our pieces are not sold blessed. Any priest or deacon can bless it for you, often right after Mass.
Does it come with a chain?
No. The pendant is sold separately. Its jump ring fits most fine- and medium-gold chains.
Which side has the diamonds?
The diamonds frame Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the front. The Sacred Heart of Jesus on the back has a plain polished gold frame, so the back sits smoothly against the skin.
Is this solid gold?
Yes. The medal and the jump ring are solid 14K gold, and the medal is stamped 14KT with the maker's mark. It is not plated or gold-filled.
Where is this pendant made? A fine gold jewelry manufacturer makes it and imports it to the United States.
